Platinum-selling rapper coming to Bucyrus
“Every year, I ask my wife, Tascha, who she would love to have perform for her birthday,” said Shawn Ridgeway, also known as DJ Breezz. “This year, Lil Flip is the featured artist.”
Ridgeway is a concert and recording producer and the featured disc jockey at Club 144 on Washington Square. He has previously brought in musical acts such as Afroman, Lega-C, Rob Skaggs, Too Short and Potluck. …
“I believe that just because we live in a small community we should not have to pay high dollar for tickets then spend the gas money and time to drive to bigger cities such as Cleveland or Columbus to attend a good concert,” Ridgeway said. “My goal is to offer great entertainment at an affordable price locally.”
Lil Flip, whose real name is Wesley Eric Weston Jr., is known for his freestyle ability. His top hits include “Sunshine,” “Game Over” and “Like A Pimp,” featuring David Banner.
“He is amazing. His premier song, ‘Game Over,’ was our favorite when it came out in 2005-2006,” said Ben “Holla Mac” Fogle. “To be an opening act for him is something we have been striving for. He is one of our favorite rappers.”
Fogle is part of 5-D from Bucyrus, along with Nate “Nate-D” Murphy and Josh “J-Mac” McDaniel. They are one of three groups that will open for Lil Flip. The others are Voice and E-Dub from Marion.
The concert is from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. March 19 at Club 144. Tickets are on sale.
“I encourage people to get their tickets early to save a little money, because they are $20 now but will be $25 at the door,” Ridgeway said. “The tickets will include food.”
Tickets are available at Club 144 and Ehrhart’s, or call Ridgeway at 419-617-3277.
Drink specials will be offered throughout the night. Only people 21 and older will be admitted.
Ridgeway, who also is in charge of the Rob Skaggs concert April 3, is trying to attract rock acts in the future.
